Applications of Laser Range Finder

Laser Rangefinder is an instrument that uses laser to measure the distance of target accurately. Laser rangefinder emits a very fine laser beam to the target when it works, and receives the reflected laser beam from the target by photoelectric elements. The timer measures the time of laser beam from launching to receiving, and calculates the distance from the observer to the target. Laser rangefinder is light in weight, small in volume, simple in operation, fast and accurate, and its error is only one fifth to one hundred of other optical rangefinders.

2. Working Principle of Laser Range Finder

Laser range finder usually uses two methods to measure distance: pulse method and phase method. The process of pulse ranging is as follows: the laser emitted by the range finder is reflected by the measured object and then received by the range finder. The range finder records the time of laser return and return at the same time. Half of the product of the speed of light and the round trip time is the distance between the range finder and the measured object. The accuracy of measuring distance by pulse method is generally about one meter in positive and negative. In addition, the blind area of this kind of measuring instrument is generally about 15 meters.
