How does the laser distance sensor monitor the traffic flow?_JRT Measure

Thanks for choosing JRT. It`s glad to see you here. Today, we will introduce to you the application of Laser Distance Module in monitoring the traffic flow.

It is usually fixed on the gantry of the expressway or important intersection, and the laser transmission and reception are vertically downward to the middle of a lane. When a vehicle passes, the Laser Ranging Sensor can output the relative change value of the measured distance value in real time, and then draw the outline of the measured vehicle.

This measurement method generally uses a measuring range of less than 30 meters, and requires a relatively high laser ranging frequency, generally required to reach 100 Hz.

Compared with the traditional traffic monitoring technology system, laser ranging module has the following advantages:
1. High accuracy: laser sensor can achieve quite high accuracy, can reach the millimeter level of measurement accuracy, so as to more accurately measure the distance and speed of vehicles, so as to improve the statistical and management accuracy of traffic flow.
2. Strong real-time performance: the distance meter sensor can realize very efficient data acquisition and transmission, and can transmit the measured vehicle data to the traffic monitoring center in a very short time, so as to realize real-time monitoring and management.
3. Small size of the equipment: JRT laser measuring device sensor, the volume is smaller 43*25mm, easy to install, will not take up a lot of space.
4. High reliability: radar sensor uses advanced laser technology, has high reliability and stability, can work in a more complex traffic environment, not affected by the weather and other natural factors.
5. Strong programming: the control program of laser sensor can be customized programming, according to the actual needs of the detection data processing and analysis, so as to better meet the needs of traffic management.
Laser Distance Sensor module can achieve good results for monitoring in important road sections, and can distinguish various vehicle types. The sampling rate for body height scanning can reach 10 cm. It can distinguish the height limit, length limit and vehicle type of traffic flow in real time and output the results quickly.

When there is no vehicle coming, the laser Distance Sensor measures a distance constant, that is, the distance from the sensor to the ground. When a vehicle passes under the laser distance sensor, the distance value changes. When the distance value returns to the constant again, it is considered that a vehicle has passed. In this way, we can monitor the traffic flow in some road sections.

Now it is more commonly used to statistical average the traffic flow within a period of time, with a large estimation component, while video statistical method still has many practical application difficulties. Therefore, laser ranging statistical method for intelligent traffic monitoring traffic flow provides a feasible scheme.
