Characteristics of Laser

1. Good coherence

A tens of watt bulb can only be used for ordinary lighting. If its energy is concentrated in a sphere 1 m in diameter, a high optical power density can be obtained, and the steel plate can be pierced with this energy. However, ordinary light sources emit light in all directions, and the light energy can not be highly concentrated. The light emitted from different points on a common light source is chaotic in different directions and at different times, and it is impossible to gather at one point after passing through a lens.

Lasers are quite different from ordinary light. Because its frequency is very simple, the light emitted from the laser can propagate in the same direction step by step. It can be converged to one point by lens, and the energy can be highly concentrated, which is called high coherence. High brightness laser beams can produce thousands or even tens of thousands of degrees of high temperature near the focus after being focused by lenses, which makes it possible to process almost all materials.

2. Strong Direction
The directivity of the laser is much better than that of all other light sources nowadays. It is almost a parallel line. If the laser is sent to the moon, after a 384,000 kilometer journey, there will be only one spot about 2 km in diameter.

3. Good monochrome:
Stimulated radiation light (laser) is the light emitted by atoms when stimulated radiation occurs. Its frequency range is very narrow. Generally speaking, the monochromaticity of stimulated radiation light is very good, and the "color" of laser is very pure (different colors, actually different frequencies). The monochromaticity of laser is an important factor to realize laser processing.
